| Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1994. The department offers four year Bachelor of Engineering programme with an annual intake of 120 students. The programme was accredited by National Board of Accreditation NBA, New Delhi in the year 2005 for 3 years and in the year 2008 for 5 years. The department also offers two years Master of Engineering programme in Engineering Design with an annual intake of 18 students. It is also recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University Chennai to offer Ph.D. programme.The department has a well-equipped integrated workshop facility which caters the needs of various branches. The department is actively engaged in research in the areas of Composite Materials, Smart Materials, Alternate Fuels and Friction Stir Welding. The faculty members actively engage in research and constantly publish papers in International and National Journals and conferences.Guest lectures and industrial visits are periodically arranged for the students to enrich their knowledge. The facilities are provided for doing online certification courses like NPTEL, QEEE and SWAYAM. The department established PTC centre for the tune of 5.0 Crores to offer training in Modeling, Additive manufacturing, Reverse Engineering and Automation. |
